A deck boat generally refers to a traditional fiberglass, V-bottom boat with an open bow that allows for plenty of seating, entertainment, comfort amenities, while maintaining a high level of performance.
A pontoon boat is a fundamentally different hull design. They are made from aluminum and feature 2-3 separate tubes that provide buoyancy as opposed to a ‘fiberglass hull’.
The addition of a 3rd pontoon allows for both comfort and a high level of performance. This is why Tri-Toons are becoming increasingly popular.

Yes, although they do not feature a wake ballast, pontoon boats are great for pulling tubes and introducing the kids to surface water sports such as water skiing or wakeboarding.
